We investigate protein materials where the preparation involves a mechanochemical step. We are also investigating mechanochemical methods for preparation of carbonaceous materials. The prepared materials are investigated with regards to applications in organic electronics and photonics. For example, protein materials functionalized with luminescent dyes can be employed in OLEDs; or carbonaceous materials can be employed for charge storage or other types of novel devices. For mechanichemical processing we utilize either shaker ball mills or a mortar and pestel grinder. We do also do research where biopolymers/biomolecules are used as templates for conductive materials, resulting in conductive hybrid materials. |
